Afros in Tha City + CBC Calgary – Community Writing Workshop Partnership

Hey Afros and faithful supporters!

Do you have a story you want to shout from the rooftops? Well, we’re partnering with CBC Calgary to help you do just that!

CBC Calgary is hosting a range of community-focused, storytelling workshops and we’re partnering with them to help share your story.

What does this mean?

  1. Stay tuned to find out each monthly topic. Follow us on IG, Twitter, Facebook or sign up to our newsletter.

  2. Email ado@afrosinthacity.com to express your interest in a workshop.

  3. Pre-register to the workshop of your choice at CBC Calgary – every month they will have a new post, if you’re unable to find it, let us know!

  4. Attend the workshop and work with CBC Producer Elise Stolte to craft a piece you’re proud of. When you’re ready, submit to the CBC team for consideration.

  5. Once approved, your piece will be co-published and appear on Afros In Tha City and CBC Calgary.

We understand the nature of personal storytelling – it’s a vulnerable process. You may end up deciding against publishing. There’s no obligation here; engage with the goal of catharsis, or developing your craft, or sharing a supportive communal space with your neighbours.

In the meantime, check out these opinion/personal pieces by our Editor-In-Chief Tomi Ajele and Co-Deputy Ado Nkemka

Stay great!
